Director’s Update – Oct 9th

Happy Wednesday parents,

I hope you have been enjoying the cooler weather we have been blessed with this week!  We have all been ready for it J although with cooler weather means warmer clothes and jackets for your child.  Please make sure that the extra clothes you send daily in our childs backpack are appropriate for the season and if its chilly to send a jacket as we do go outside for recess daily.   Please make sure everything you send is marked with your childrens name.

*Scholastic Book orders are due by tomorrow, Oct. 10th*

We are only a week away from the Suncreek Kids 6th Annual Bike-a-thon! We are so excited for this day of fun and fitness. The Suncreek Kids staff and board cant wait for this wonderful event. Following are details to help the bike-a-thon run smoothly:

– The morning of the event, October17th, we ask that you pull up between the two church buildings (on the west side of the

preschool) and drop off your bikes. There will be volunteers waiting to put the bikes in the appropriate spot. If you are planning

 to stay for the event, please park in the parking lot by the preschool building. This will allow our volunteers the time and space to

 put together the tracks.

– Helmets are a must for all children riding on bikes in the event.  We ask that you label your childs bike and helmet with his/her name and

 classroom name.

– Please plan to take your bikes with you after your child rides in the event. If you will not be at the event, please pick up the bike

 at the drop-off spot just before pick-up time. Suncreek Kids will NOT have any place to store bikes overnight so PLEASE remember

 to pick up your bikes and helmets. 

– Your child will be participating in this event during his/her recess.  See below for that time*

**Rainbow * 10:00 – 10:30 **Blue * 9:30 -10:00**Purple * 10:30 – 11:00 *****Orange – 11:00 *11:30**Sky Blue * 11:00 * 11:30**Yellow * 10:30 – 11:00 *****Green – 11:30 – 12:00     **Red * 11:30 – 12:00**Silver – 10:00 – 10:30*****      *If your child is not in school on Thursday,  please join us at the above-scheduled time for your classroom.

– Please have your child wear his/her classroom color. We’d love for parents to show spirit and dress in the appropriate classroom

color as well!

– Pledge envelopes were sent home last week so that you can begin collecting pledges for your little biker! All funds raised at this

 bike-a-thon will be used for classroom and curriculum needs here at Suncreek Kids. Please send in your pledge envelope no later

 than October 31, 2013.

It takes many volunteers to make this day run smoothly and run so successfully.  **The volunteer sign up sheet is at the front desk now. ** We would really love for you to help out if you can!!  I have listed the times each class is riding so you are aware of when your child will be riding so you can watch them and be able to schedule to help us at another time that day.  Your help is VERY appreciated!!

**We will also have a classroom spirit award that will be given away to one class on the day of the event.  The class that shows the most spirit will earn a pizza party that will take place the following week.  We will have a small committee of judges that will pick the winner based on a list of criteria they are looking for. The criteria will include students and parents attending the event wearing the class color, showing spirit in other ways with signs, pom poms etc and the bikes, helmets and/ or riding toy are decorated.  If you are fan of us on Facebook look under the bike-a-thon album from last years event for the pictures of the spirit our children and families displayed.  This is a very fun day so lets show our class spirit and help your class try to win the pizza party. Your classroom teachers will remind you weekly up to the days event.  Thanks for all you do to make this a fun day for the children!

           Fall Festival and Chili Cook-off

           Saturday, October 26   5:00 – 7:00

Bring the entire family to Suncreeks Fall Festival and Chili Cook-Off.  Well have free games and bounce houses, a hay ride, and lots of goodies to eat.  Children are encouraged to dress in “non-scary” costumes and enjoy “Trunk or Treat”. 

Chili will be judged by an “expert” panel but everyone gets to taste! Spicy or mild, bring your favorite recipe!  Contact Christy Parker to enter your chili: [email protected] Missions Committee will be offering hot dogs, hamburgers and chips for donations. 

The school directory is coming home today and tomorrow in your child’s folder.  Thank you to those that advertised in it too!  We thank you for your support!!
